Original MGM Half-Sheet Poster (22x28) for the Vincente Minnelli directed film ZIEGFELD FOLLIES (1946). A lavish tribute film of the great Broadway empresario Florenz Ziegfeld (1907-1931). MGM drafted more than a few of their contract stars to give a sense of the variety of the producer's career. The cast included Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Kathryn Grayson, Lucille Bremer, Kathryn Grayson, Fanny Brice, James Melton, Victor Moore, Red Skelton, Esther Williams, William Powell, Lena Horne and many others. These stars would appear in cameos to bring some of the historical acts from the Ziegfeld Follies to life. This is the style A half sheet, by far the scarcer of the two styles of half sheets for this famous MGM musical. The poster has been paperbacked. The native condition was quite good, but the poster was mounted to a board. We had the poster removed from the board, professionally restored and paperbacked. Presents as very fine.
