Original Italian Movie Poster (85x108) Eight Foglio Folded Fine Condition
MGM Original Italian 85x108 Large Format Poster for the film THE SWAN (1956) starring Grace Kelly, Louis Jourdan, Sir Alec Guinness, Jessie Royce Landis, Agnes Moorehead, Brian Aherne, Leo G. Carroll and Estelle Winwood. THE SWAN was the second-to-last film of Grace Kelly. It was directed by Charles Vidor. It was adapted from a Hungarian play by Ferenc Molnar titled "The Swan, A Comedy in Three Acts" which was first produced in Budapest in 1914. The play had been made into a film previously, as a silent film in 1925 starring Frances Howard and again in 1930 as ONE ROMANTIC NIGHT starring Lillian Gish. In addition, Grace Kelly had played the role in a television production in 1950. The story involves a princess (Kelly), a prince (Guinness) and a commoner (Jourdan.) Kelly is expected to marry a Prince, but she falls for the commoner. It was rather old stuff, even for 1956, but since the film was released on the day that Kelly famously married Prince Rainier of Monaco, it has acquired a bit of a legend in Grace Kelly's filmography. And the plain fact that Kelly was never more beautiful than in this film is notable. This was the first American Film of Sir Alec Guinness. The movie was filmed in North Carolina on the estate of Cornelius Vanderbilt. The image of Grace Kelly on this poster is by Ercole Brini. This is quite a large poster, and while linen-backing is available for it, framing the poster would be a significant challenge. MovieArt Austin guarantees this poster to be an authentic first-release Italian poster for this movie. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
