Original MGM Half Sheet Poster (22x28) for the W.S. Van Dyke western drama, STAND UP AND FIGHT (1939) starring Wallace Beery, Robert Taylor, and Florence Rice. Set in the abolitionist North, the film mostly deals with the trafficking of slaves. Beery runs a stagecoach company that helps slaves escapes. But someone is capturing the slave and reselling them back to southerners. In casting Robert Taylor in this role, MGM was trying to broaden appeal from his earlier films where he played mostly a handsome but callow youth. The film was controversial and groundbreaking for its day. This original half sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition, with some rough edges.
