Original French Grande Poster (47x63) Folded Very Fine Condition
Original 20th Century-Fox French Grande Poster (47x63) for the Gordon Douglas western, STAGECOACH (1966) starring Ann-Margret, Red Buttons, Mike Connors, Alex Cord, and Bing Crosby. This film is a remake of the 1939 John Ford classic of the same name; indeed, this new version uses the original 1939 Dudley Nichols screenplay. The story is about a group of unlikely traveling companions on the same stagecoach to Cheyenne. Even though they all have secrets, they discover that they must work together to stay alive when they are set upon first by Indians and then by a family of outlaws. The cast is well chosen, and they all give excellent and believable performances. Young Ann-Margret is quite memorable as the sultry-but-sweet Dallas, a fallen woman who would love a chance at redemption. This is also Bing Crosby's last film, a non-singing role as a disgraced, alcoholic doctor. Norman Rockwell had done a series of portraits of the characters for the main titles of the film and these were used on the posters. For his work he was rewarded with a small cameo in the movie - the only time he ever appeared in a film. The art by Norman Rockwell for the U.S. posters was adapted for the French Posters. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees that this poster is authentic.
