Original U.S. 24 sheet billboard poster for the Allen Reisner music biography, ST. LOUIS BLUES (1958). A wonderful cast populates this very loosely based biography of jazz composer W.C Handy. The film starred Nat King Cole, Eartha Kitt, Ella Fitzgerald, and Pearl Bailey. Plus a host of other great performers. Nat King Cole released an album of W.C. Handy tunes on a Capitol L.P. and "The St. Louis Blues" became a staple in the repertoire of Ella Fitzgerald. This poster is very large - 9x20 feet. 24 sheets were used for exterior advertising, often at roadside or on the walls of downtown builings. 24 sheets are one of the rarest sizes of extant film posters because most of them were destroyed after a film went out of first-run distribution. Obviously, this poster was never used. Condition is fine. 24 sheets are made up of twelve different panels which are joined together to create one large poster. Vintage, authentic.
