Original French Grande Poster (47x63) Folded Fine Plus Condition
MGM Original French Grande Poster (47x63) for the Rouben Mamoulian directed musical film SILK STOCKINGS (1957). The film stars Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse. It's an adaptation of a stage music of the same name, which in turn was an adaptation of another MGM film, a Greta Garbo classic, NINOTCHKA. In turning what was an Ernst Lubitsch classic comedy into a musical, MGM added CinemaScope and color and some songs by Cole Poster and Conrad Salinger. Noted in wikipedia: "The score was embellished with the new song "The Ritz Roll and Rock", a parody of then-emerging rock and roll. The number ends with Astaire symbolically smashing his top hat, considered one of his trademarks, signaling his retirement from movie musicals, which he announced following the film's release." This French poster is in excellent condition, with only one small fold separation at one of the fold intersections. Nice art by the French master illustrator Roger Soubie. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees that this poster is an authentic, vintage French Grande poster for this film. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
