Original Italian 39x55 Poster, folded, and in very good average used condition for the Bernard Gerard directed western RIDE OUT FOR REVENGE (1957). We have never seen this poster at auction in the U.S. and we believe that this must be from the first (and perhaps only) Italian release. Very nice art by Renato Casaro. The releasing company is Major Film. The film is one of a small number of films in the western genre that expressed an empathy for Indians. An Indian chief is murdered in a town full of antagonistic white settlers, and the sympathetic marshall (Calhoun) tries to stop the Indians from a revenge attack. Rory Calhoun was one of the handsomest of the second tier of leading men in the decade of the 1950s. A veteran of westerns, he had appeared with Robert Mitchum and Marilyn Monroe in RIVER OF NO RETURN. Looming in the background we see the face of Gloria Grahame, one of film noir's most famous faces. The movie also stars Lloyd Bridges as a malevolent Captain trying to force the Indians off their land. The film also features an appearance by Iron Eyes Cody. The poster was used in a cinema in Italy and should be regarded in average used condition. The poster does have a hole in it about two inches, which should be repaired.
