United Artists Original First Release Italian 79x55 movie poster for the South Seas adventure film RETURN TO PARADISE (1953). The poster is rare and we can find no record of the poster ever having been at auction in the U.S. The movie stars Gary Cooper, Roberta Haynes and Barry jones. The source material was a short story by James A. Michener. The story was entitled "Mr. Morgan" and it was included in a collection of stories which was also entitled "Return to Paradise." Michener had previously written "Tales of the South Pacific" from which several stories were adapted into the famous Broadway Musical "South Pacific." The plot synopsis in wikipedia is perfect. The film was shot in British Samoa and the Italian title reflects that. Cooper plays a rough hewn drifter and this art by Manfredo Acerbo reflects it. Of note is a beautiful score by Dimitri Tiomkin.
