Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Andrew V. McLaglen western, THE RARE BREED (1966) starring James Stewart, Maureen O'Hara, Brian Keith, and Juliet Mills. Headstrong widow Martha Price(O'Hara) and her daughter (Mills) together with their prize bull travel from England to Texas to sell their bull and thus introduce Hereford cattle to the American west. Along the way, they meet a cynical and hard-bitten drifter Sam Burnett (Stewart) who helps them on their adventure. Though fictionalized, the film is a fairly accurate account of the displacement of Longhorn cattle in Texas by intentional interbreeding with more conventional bulls. This is certainly one of the original "chick flick" westerns, that is -- as the story is told from the point of view of the female heroine (Mills). This original one sheet poster is in very good plus to fine condition. There is a small chip out of the upper border area. Colors are vivid.
