Paramount Pictures Original Italian 79x55 movie poster for the George Seaton directed drama THE PROUD AND PROFANE (1956). The poster is quite rare and there is no record that we can find of the poster appearing at any auction in the U.S. The film stars William Holden, Deborah Kerr, Thelma Ritter, Dewey Martin, Adam Williams and Marion Ross. The movie concerns a woman who volunteers to serve as a nurse in the Pacific Theater in World War II. There's a gritty love story here as Kerr falls in love with a tough marine played by William Holden. The movie was shot in black and white and garnered two Oscar nominations, one for Art Direction - Set Decoration and one for costume design. This poster is a scarce poster with art which we have attributed, due to elements of style, to Ercole Brini. The art is not signed and we have not been able to corroborate as yet online. The paper is generally in good condition and colors are bright, but the folds are week and have been reinforced in places with archival tissue. Linen backing is recommended.
