Paramount Pictures Original U.S. Insert Card Poster for the Anthony Harvey directed drama PLAYERS (1979). The film stars Dean-Paul Martin, Ali MacGraw, Maximilian Schell, Steven Guttenberg and Liv Ullman. The film was a project of the producer Bob Evans. A hot-button romance set in the world of professional tennis, the film was largely dismissed by critics and barely broke even. Martin, the son of legend Dean Martin, was quite nice to look at and a very good tennis player in his own right. But despite lots of actualities at tennis tournaments and the appearance of several pro players, the film failed. His film career was limited. But he was an avid pilot, and served in the California Air National Guard. Tragically he died in a plane crash in 1987.
