Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Rolled Fine Plus to Very Fine
Here is the U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x410 for the Roman Polanski directed bomb PIRATES (1986). If you love Walter Matthau and you love pirates (arrrrggghhh!) you cannot not have this poster. After Polanski's enormous success with CHINATOWN in the mid-seventies, he began the slow process of working on a pirate movie. He writes that he was a big customer of Disneyland and that he loved the pirate ship ride there. He aspired to make a movie for kids that was pure entertainment. He wanted to do it with Jack Nicholson. But Nicholson was too expensive. This is one of those stories where the production obstructions is just unbelievable. Finally the film ended up being made with Walter Matthau, who hated the script, and it ended up making about fifty bucks at the box office. Nevertheless, the production design and costuming make the viewing the movie not a complete waste. And, like we said, the one sheet poster is glorious. The Disney Company would later sail these seas with their pirates movies that would make them very rich indeed. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees this poster to be original. Authentic. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
