Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Folded Very Good Plus Condtion Theater-Used
Avco Embassy PIctures Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster for the Don Coscarelli directed horror movie PHANTASM (1979). The film was the complete brainchild of Coscarelli. It was made at the time when independently produced horror film were eating up the box office. PHANTASM was completely homemade, financed in part by Don Coscarelli's father and some other friends. Amateur actors were used including Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Reggie Bannister, Kathy Lester, and Angus Scrimm. Coscarelli estimated that the film cost $300,000, but box office revenues exceeded $20,000,000. The film was not especially well received at first, but its cult film status was soon confirmed. It is regarded as a very influential film in the genre. The art on this poster is by Joseph Smith. The poster is graded in very good plus condition, chiefly because of a small fold separation and very slight missing paper at a fold intersection. Linen-backing this poster would be very easy and result in a very nice poster. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees that this poster is an authentic, vintage poster for this film. MovieArt Austin does not sell reproductions.
