Original MGM lobby card for the film THE PEOPLE VS. DR. KILDARE (1941) directed by Harold S. Bucquet. The card is a lovely portrait card of Lew Ayres and Laraine Day. The Kildare series was a very successful series for MGM in the early forties. Ayres, who was one of the prettiest of the MGM male stars, was almost finished as an actor because of his conscientious objector status during World War II - even though his duties as a medic took him into harm's way. In the 1950s he slowly emerged back on the scene and made many films. His stardom however never reached it's earlier peak.
