Original Style B Italian Quattro (79x55) for the Lewis Milestone maritime adventure, MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY (1962) starring Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard, Richard Harris, and Hugh Griffith. This was the second MGM feature film based on the trilogy written by Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall. When the news broke that MGM had the audacity to remake this hallowed story, critics were aghast. Clark Gable, beloved by almost everyone in Hollywood, had played the role of Fletcher Christian in the original movie, but now the role would be played by Marlon Brando, a lightning rod for criticism. Indeed, he was mercilessly ridiculed for his dreadful British accent. Nevertheless, Brando managed to artfully transform his character from a cavalier rogue to honorable hero who must endure the self-torment of joining a mutiny against Captain Bligh, played with sadistic gusto by Trevor Howard. The film received seven Academy Award nominations-- including Best Picture, Best Original Score, and Best Cinematography. This Italian quattro is printed on two separate panels, even though the poster is referred to as a four-sheet. Condition is very fine.
