Original Universal Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41x81) for the John Sherwood sci-fi horror thriller, MONOLITH MONSTERS (1957) starring Lola Albright, Grant Williams, and Les Tremayne. This sci-fi classic is a pleasant change from the giant-creatures-run-amuck and aliens-invade-the-world movies of the 1950s. This film has a unique menace: meteor fragments that grow into huge monoliths when exposed to water and then turn people into stone. It was originally released as a double feature with LOST SLAVES OF THE AMAZONS (1957). CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON director Jack Arnold wrote the original story on which this film is based, and the film also boasted some of the best special effects of the day. The art for this poster is by the immortal Reynold Brown. This poster was used in a theater decades ago and has survived the years nicely.
