Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Arthur Penn biographical masterpiece, THE MIRACLE WORKER (1962) starring Anne Bancroft, Victor Jory, Inga Swenson, and Patty Duke. This excellent film chronicles the struggle of Anne Sullivan (Bancroft) to teach the blind and deaf Helen Keller (Duke) to communicate. The seemingly insurmountable obstacle of "seeing" and "hearing" an unseen and unheard world is approached in a profound yet accessible manner. Bancroft and Duke could not have been better; indeed, Bancroft won the Oscar for Best Actress, and Duke won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The film was also nominated for three other Academy Awards, including Best Director for Penn and Best Screenplay for William Gibson.
