Lovely old lithograph from Czechoslovakia, pre-World War II, for the MGM Musical THE MERRY WIDOW starring Maurice Chevalier, Jeanette MacDonald and Edward Everett Horton. MacDonald plays a wealthy widow, who pays most of the taxes in the small nation of Marshovia, When she goes to Paris for fun and frolic, worries arise that the tax base will erode. Chevalier is sent to Paris to get her back, and the talent of Ernst Lubtisch is his chief weapon. A big opulent MGM musical just five years after the advent of sound. This beautiful poster needs the top border replaced. This is a simple fix for a good paper conservationist. Ask us about poster restoration services.
