Original U.S. Insert Poster (14x36) Very Good Plus Condition
Twentieth Century Fox Original U.S. Insert Poster (14x36) for the Irving Cummings directed musical film LILLIAN RUSSELL (1940). The film stars one of Fox' biggest stars of the era, Alice Faye. Alice could do it all, sing, dance, romance, dramatize. In this film, she absolutely surrounded by some of Fox' top male stars of the period: Henry Fonda, Don Ameche, Edward Arnold and Warren William. This fanciful biopic of one of the biggest stage personalities of the nineteenth century has all the hallmarks of the Fox Musical. Fox was smart with the music for this one, drawing on many popular songs of the period - "The Band Played On", "Come Down Ma Evening' Star" and "After the Ball." Edward Arnold is cast as Diamond Jim Brady, a man he had played previously in Universal's film of 1935, DIAMOND JIM. Lillian Russell retired in 1912, after being the toast of America for decades. This poster was used in a theater, and has a tear from the left edge, which we have addressed with archival mending tissue. MovieArt Original Film Posters in Austin, Texas guarantees that this poster is authentic.
