Original Columbia Pictures U.S. lobby card set (eight cards) for the David Lean war epic, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA starring Peter O'Toole, Alec Guinness, Arthur Kennedy, Anthony Quayle, Claude Rains, Jose Ferrer, Jack Hawkins, Anthony Quinn and Omar Sharif. This film is the unforgettable biography of the flamboyant and controversial British military officer and his conflicted loyalties. With a brilliant script by Robert Bolt, a stunning score by Maurice Jarre, and unbelievably beautiful cinematography by Freddie Young, this film is considered to be the greatest adventure-biography ever filmed. The sweeping desert vistas totally immerse the viewer, and the battle scenes are among the most realistic of the era. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won seven - including Best Picture, Best Director for Lean, Best Score for Jarre, and Best Color Cinematography for Young. This U.S. lobby card set is in fine plus condition. The title card is in very fine condition, and the title card represents a major part of the attraction here as the art is essentially the same Howard Terpning illustration that is on the style A one sheet. This was a theater-used set and there are some staple holes in the corners. The cards bear a rubber stamp in the lower right which says "63-49". This indicates that the cards may have been reshuffled at National Screen Service as the picture played on into 1963.
