Original United Artists Insert Poster (14x36) for the Bernardo Bertolucci romantic drama, LAST TANGO IN PARIS (1972). Marlon Brando plays a middle aged man in an obsessive relationship with a young woman in Bernardo Bertolucci's seminal film. The man explains to the young girl that their affair is merely to be regarded as a sexual one. The free love ethos of the sexual revolution is put on full display in this film. Because of the nudity and near-explicit sexuality, the movie was the subject of worldwide sensationalistic press in 1973, and was dismissed by some critics as inconsequential. Yet almost forty years later, this film has held its own as one of the influential films of the seventies. The actress Maria Schneider, who plays the young girl, denounced Bertolucci as more of a gangster than a film director and blamed both Brando and Bertolucci for manipulating her into making a salacious movie. One of the lasting attributes of the film is an wonderful jazz score by Gato Barbieri. The insert poster is in very fine, unfolded condition.
