The film stars Tyrone Power, Terry Moore, Michael Rennie, William Wilkerson, John Justin, and Guy Rolfe. Based very loosely on a 1916 novel of the same name written by Talbot Mundy, the story is an adventure yarn of the British in India. The Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, California was where the widescreen movie was actually shot. In fact this was one of the first films to be shot in Technicolor and the widescreen process known as CinemaScope, with sweeping cinematography by the great Leon Shamroy.
