One of the most beautiful posters of Jane Wyman that we have seen - and this for her Oscar winning performance in JOHNNY BELINDA. Art by Luigi Martinati. The film was adapted from a play by by Elmer Blaney Harris. The play had been a success on Broadway but making a film of it would be difficult, if not impossible, because of the code's restrictions of the subject of rape. But by 1945 film audiences were seeing a bolder approach in production. The film was controversial upon its release, but the stellar performance of Jane Wyman and a great supporting cast including Agnes Moorehead, Jan Sterling, Lew Ayres and Charles Bickford made this one of the most memorable films of the immediate postwar era. The story has be re-filmed twice - as made for TV movies. The tender portrait of Jane Wyman is first class Martinati illustration.
