In 1964, Italian director Riccardo Freda made this version with Geronimo Meyneir as Romeo and Rosemary Dexter as Juliet. The studio was Discentro and the film was distributed in the United States by World Entertainment in 1968. Freda loved Shakespeare, but this was freely adapted - very freely.
