United Artists Original Six-Sheet Poster for the Richard Sale directed Technicolor musical film GENTLEMEN MARRY BRUNETTES (1955). The film stars Jane Russell, Jeanne Crain, Alan Young, Scott Brady, Rudy Vallee, Eric Pohlmann, Michael Balfour and Fats Waller. The script was written by Mary Loos, who was the niece of writer Anita Loos. Anita had written both the novel and the play for GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES (1953), a huge success with Rusell and Marilyn Monroe. This film was an attempt to see if lightning could strike twice. It didn't. Although the movie was populated with some nice songs, the dialogue was clunky, and audiences did not swoon. This six-sheet for the film is rare. It has been seen at auction once, albeit in lesser condition than this one, which is quite great. Good color. No tears!
