Original Columbia Pictures 30 x 40 Poster for the Herbert Ross musical FUNNY LADY (1975) starring Barbra Streisand, James Caan, Omar Sharif, Roddy McDowell and Ben Vereen. This musical biopic continued to explore the life of 1930s-era comedienne/singer Fanny Brice after her divorce from gambler Nicky Arnstein (Omar Sharif) and her later involvement with impresario Billy Rose. FUNNY LADY was a glamorous big budget production that attempted to capitalize on Streisand's success in the original FUNNY GIRL -- a project she carried triumphantly from the Broadway stage to the Academy Awards. Teaming her with James Caan, then riding the stardom train after his mega success with THE GODFATHER and several other projects, seemed like a no brainer. The results were a mixed bag but entertaining nonetheless and with a solidly memorable score. The poster is in very fine, unfolded condition.
