20th Century Fox Scene Lobby Cards (11x14) for the Michael Curtiz directed film FRANCIS OF ASSISSI (1961) starring Bradford Dillman as St. Francis. The film also stars Dolores Hart, Pedro Armendariz, Finlay Currie, Cecil Kellaway, Eduard Franz, and Mervyn Jones. This movie got the big treatment from 20th Century Fox, with no less a respected director than Curtiz at the helm. And yet it never seemed to make it into the pantheon of religious and biblicallly inspired movies that were popular in the 1950s and early 1960s. The production is mounted in a fine way and Dillman is credible in the role of Francis. Dillman, a native of San Francisco where he graduated from St. Ignatius High School. He later attended Yale University where he studied drama. Dillman has had a long and successful career and is underrated as an actor. One of the cards is especially good of him.
