MGM Original Six Sheet Poster for the John Schlesinger romantic drama FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD (1967), starring Julie Christie, Peter Finch, Alan Bates, and Terence Stamp. Based on the Thomas Hardy novel, Christie portrays Bathsheba Everdene, a willful and passionate young woman who is only satisfied with a man's complete and helpless adoration. Besides memorable performances all around, the film boasts beautiful cinematography and the use of English folk song to complement the narrative. Richard Rodney Bennett won the film's only Academy Award, for Best Original Score. Six sheets are LARGE posters. This six sheet is printed on four different panels which are joined together to display as one poster. The condition of this example is very fine. This has proven to be a relatively scarce poster on this title. Only two examples are known to have come to auction. Our example is clearly in better condition than either which have preceeded it.
