Description
Original Australian Daybill (14x30) for the epic war drama, THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (1964) starring Sophia Loren, Stephen Boyd, Alec Guinness, James Mason, and Christopher Plummer. The film takes place in 180 A.D. when Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Guinness) has conquered most of Europe and a lot of Asia Minor but now thinks that the empire is too big to police with army legions. He wants to grant Roman citizenship to all those living in the outlying provinces and equalize the distribution of economic goods. However, he is succeeded by his son Commodus (Plummer), who only seems to be interested in games and gladiators. Dimitri Tiomkin received the only Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score. This original stone lithograph Australian Daybill is folded and in very fine condition.
