Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Otto Preminger historical epic, EXODUS (1960) starring Paul Newman, Eva Marie Saint, Ralph Richardson, and Sal Mineo. Based on the popular novel by Leon Uris, this film is the story of the founding of the state of Israel after the United Nations voted to partition Palestine in 1947. The film centers on the successful escape, masterminded by underground leader Ari Ben Canaan (Newman) of over 600 Jewish refugees from Cyprus to Palestine. Then the story turns to various underground activities in Palestine and the first Israeli and Arab conflicts following partition. Ernest Gold won the Academy Award for his haunting and emotive score. Sal Mineo was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, and Sam Leavitt was nominated for Best Cinematography. Most of the scenes were shot in the same locations where the original events occurred. This original one sheet poster with Saul Bass artwork is folded and and must be graded in fair condition only due to missing paper on the upper right.
