Universal Pictures Original One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Jerry Hopper comedy EVERTHING BUT THE TRUTH (1956), starring Maureen O'Hara, John Forsythe and Tim Hovey. The plot is typical sitcom material. A child played by Tim Hovey has been taught to tell the truth at all times. But when he tells the truth about an uncle who has taken money from a crooked politician, the proverbial you-know-what hits the proverbial fan. Hovey is the particularly interesting person here. He was a successful child star from 1955 to 1959. He came to the attention of audiences in the 1956 film TOY TIGER. But like many of the child actors who worked in Hollywood, his life was shaped by forces that may have been somewhat glamorous but were also relentlessly demanding. In his later life, Hovey worked as a road manager for The Grateful Dead. He later served as chief audio engineer for the band. He died of an intentional drug overdose in 1989.
