Original Polish Poster (26x38) for the Don Siegel prison drama, ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ(1979) starring Clint Eastwood, Patrick McGoohan, Fred Ward and Paul Benjamin. The notorious island prison of Alcatraz, smack dab in the middle of San Francisco Bay, served as a US Federal prison until the mid-1960s. As the inmates were able to see the city from the prison cell, and consequently the possibility of freedom, the island has long served as a powerful image for both film and literature. This movie, based on an actual escape attempt, was filmed on location. Art on the poster is that of a shackled inmate behind what appears to be an invisible fence -- a fitting allegory. With artwork by Marek Ploza Dolinski, this original Polish poster is in very fine condition.
