20th Century Fox Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster (27x41), folded, for the Robert Aldrich directed film EMPEROR OF THE NORTH (1973). The film was also distributed under the title EMPEROR OF THE NORTH POLE. The movie starred Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Keith Carradine and Bern Hoffman. This well conceived action film depicts life among the hobos during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The screeplay was inspired by and, in part, crafted from memoirs by writers of the period, including the famous Jack London. The film was expensive, a difficult shoot in Oregon, and did not inititally return Fox's investment in the U.S. Nevertheless, it plays well almost fifty years later. The wonderful Lee Marvin!
