Original Italian 39x55 poster, folded, for the Paramount Pictures western EL PASO (1949) starring John Payne and Gail Russell. This poster has not been seen at auction in the USA. John Payne is a confederate officer turned lawyer. After the end of the American Civil War, he heads out west in hopes for a new beginning. Little does he know that he will be instrumental in bringing civilization to El Paso. Gail Russell is his love interest and she is beautiful, as usual. Rusell was good at these kinds of pictures. She notably turned in a great performance with another John -- John Wayne, in ANGEL AND THE BADMAN, just two years before this movie, in 1947. A notch above a routine "oater", the movie features the usual painstaking odyssey to Law and Order. The Italian two-foglio poster (39x55, printed on one panel) is quite colorful with good illustration by Carlanotnio Longi. A good likeness of both of the American stars from an artists whose strong suit seemed to be finding the essence of familiarity in star portraiture. Condition is fine plus, with some minor distress to the borders, vivid color. This one is for your ranch in El Paso!
