Original Paramount Pictures Insert Poster (14x36) for the Rouben Mamoulian horror classic, DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE (1931) starring Fredric March, Miriam Hopkins, and Rose Hobart. Based on the famous novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, the film chronicles the horrible consequences that result when Dr. Jekyll lets his dark side run amok when he takes a potion that changes him into the animalistic Mr. Hyde, whose appearance was based on the Neanderthal man. The remarkable Jekyll-to-Hyde transformation scenes were accomplished by March's makeup being applied in different colors, which were then activated by using different colored filters in front of the camera lens. This film was the first horror movie to ever win an Academy Award, Best Actor to March. The film was also nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography.
