Original Warner Brothers International Style B One-Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Sidney Lumet crime drama black comedy, DOG DAY AFTERNOON (1975) starring Al Pacino, John Cazale, Charles Durning, and Chris Sarandon. The film is based on a Life magazine account of an actual robbery. Sonny (Al Pacino) and Sal (John Cazale) are two desperate New Yorkers who rob a bank in Brooklyn, but their plans for a quick and clean getaway degenerate into a prolonged hostage negotiation. The ordeal turns into a massive spectacle, and the two amateur criminals find themselves notorious socio-political icons when their sexuality, military background, and personal woes become the subject of public scrutiny. The production of the film is infamous; most of the dialogue was improvised from a very basic script, and the demands placed on the actors were so stressful that Pacino became clinically exhausted during the shoot.
