Original 20th Century-Fox Scene Lobby Card (11x14) for the Robert Wise science fiction masterpiece, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (1951), starring Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, and Sam Jaffe. Everything about this film is superior: a beautiful and literate script, superb and believable acting, skillful but restrained direction, incredible special effects for the time, and a magnificent score by Bernard Hermann which utilized one of the earliest electronic instruments, the eerie and other-worldly Theremin. Posters for this title are treasured by cinema collectors the world over. This card is graded in very fine condition. Here is a detailed description: there are three pinholes in the upper red border area, but no other pinholes. There is no image loss whatsoever. Colors are bright on the card with excellent registration. There is a hairline tear of about 12mm on the top border, which we have addressed with archival mending tape on the reverse side of the card. There is some tape residue on the REVERSE side of the card which does not bleed to the front. Some very slight smudging in the border area.
