Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Curtis Bernhardt adventure epic, DAMON AND PYTHIAS (1962) starring Guy Williams, Don Burnett, Ilaria Occhini, Arnoldo Foa, and Marina Berti. Typical sword and sandal material, the film's native title is IL TIRANNO DI SIRACUSA. Williams and Burnett play the famous friends who foil the nefarious tyrant Dionysius (Arnoldo Foa). Not pictured on the poster is the beautiful Marina Berti, who played an uncredited part as Charlton Heston's Roman ladyfriend in the Arrius' party sequence in BEN-HUR. The French refer to this type of Italian epic as "peplum", so called because of the short skirts the men often wear in costume. And this film was certainly an Italian effort with an almost entirely Italian crew and filmed at Italy's famous Cinecitta Studios. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.
