Original Columbia Pictures Three-Sheet Poster (41x81) for the Lewis Gilbert rip-snorting naval adventure, DAMN THE DEFIANT! (1962) starring Alec Guinness, Dirk Bogarde, Maurice Denham, Nigel Stock, and Anthony Quayle. This British production, originally titled H.M.S. DEFIANT, is based on the 1797 Spithead Mutiny in which seamen protested living conditions aboard British naval vessels and also demanded a pay raise. This complicated story rooted in history is totally engrossing, with bold characters and lots of exciting naval action. Guinness made this film during a two month break in the shooting of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962). This original three sheet poster was theater-used. This is a large-format poster printed on two separate panels which are joined together to display as one poster. There are modest signs of general wear with some distresses at the folds.
