MGM Original Italian Four-Foglio Poster (79x55) for the Richard Brooks directed classic film BLACKBOARD JUNGLE (1955) starring Glenn Ford, Anne Francis, Louis Calhern, Emile Meyer, Basil Ruysdael and Vic Morrow. It was in the year 1955 that Hollywood turned its attention to what was then called juvenile delinquency in two major films. One, of course, was Nicholas Ray's famous REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE starring James Dean. The other was BLACKBOARD JUNGLE. Glenn Ford is a high school teacher trying to do the right thing by his students. They are rebellious at every turn and things soon turn violent. The ringleader delinquents are played by Vic Morrow, then 26, and Sidney Poitier who was 28. Hardly highschoolers! The film presents an earnest, thoughtful look at teen angst and the violence which sometimes emerges from it. The movie used the song "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets as its theme to play over the main titles. The song soon climbed to number one on pop charts around the world, eventually selling millions of copies. This Italian poster, which is quite scarce, has great art by Nano.
