Original U.S. One-Sheet Poster for the Joseph Losey film THE ASSASSINATION OF TROTSKY (1972). The film starred Richard Burton, Alain Delon and Romy Schneider. After the stellar decade of the 1960s when the Burton-Taylor marriage spawned a lot of headlines and some very lucrative movies, Burton fell on more uncertain times. Here is a film which is more Euro-Centric, with big European stars. The poster is theater used and it has an arresting design. The story follows the exile of Leon Trotsky to Mexico. But exile is not enough for Josef Stalin, and he has sent an assassin to finish Trotsky. Normally, people would have been interested in Burton's acting, but this film was largely excoriated in America. It found some audience in Europe and in Japan.
